Board Minutes - 7/13

Minutes of the Meeting of July 10, 2013

President Nancy Andrews called the meeting to order at 1:23 p.m. It soon became apparent that she was not going to be able to continue due to her fall, so Donna Jones took over and conducted the meeting.

The minutes of the June board meeting were read and approved.

The August luncheon will be held at Caruso’s in Canyon Country. The menu consists of Lasagna, Stuffed Shells and Chicken Parmigiano Sandwich. Salad and a Tiramisu dessert are included. Berni reported that the luncheons for the remainder of the year have been set. The September luncheon will be at El Trocadero in Newhall; October at Robinson Ranch, November is tentatively scheduled for the Hyatt. December will be back at Robinson Ranch. As of this meeting, January will be at Don Cuco’s; February at Le Chene; March at Robinson Ranch; April at Tournament Players Club; and May at the Hyatt.

There are 52 reservations for the July luncheon at the New Moon.

Alyce reminded us that the August program will be with Chuck Morris who will speak on the Vietnam War Memorial which will be in Santa Clarita in September.

Mikki reported that there are 166 paid members. Now that we know where the luncheons will be, Alyce will set up programs for the future.

Trish reported that there is $8,039.09 in the treasury. There was $2,854 in income and expenditures of $2130.96. Members need to be reminded to make their checks payable to Newcomers.

Janice Weiner has volunteered to help Jodi with the teas.

It was suggested that we get someone to coordinate a Girls Night Out to go see Patti Finley in Le Miz.

Sandi Cates reported that she is now only sending 12 copies of the newsletter by mail. It seems that most members now have e-mail.

We were reminded that if we are going to put something regarding Sunshine in the newsletter, we need to get that person’s permission first.

The next board meeting will be on August 7th at a location to be announced.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:08 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Margaret Gilmer, Secretary
