Newcomers and Friends Board Meeting
Nov 2, 2011

Meeting called to order by Carol Maul at the home of  Nalini Amin at 1:10 PM.

Reports
Luncheon
- Information for the November Luncheon made available by Donna Jones, to be held at the Valencia Country Club. Information on our December Christmas Luncheon, held at the Odyssey, and the deadline for payment of Nov 29th also reported. We have guaranteed an attendance of at least 50. The cost will be $30 for members and $40 for guests.                                                                 

Membership - Nancy reported the membership has 163 members and we have welcomed 3 new members this past month.

Minutes of October 5, 2011 taken by Barbara Ferone, assistant secretary and read by Muriel, secretary, approved as corrected.

Treasurer - Kay Moioffer, treasurer, reported a balance of $5435.26 as of the end of October.

Web Mistress - Marlene reporting. Website functioning well, apologies for the errors.

Coffee - Had an attendance of 4 or 5 new  members at the last gathering.                  .

Historian
- Margaret requested anyone who has taken pictures, please feel free to pass some on to her for the scrapbook. Also anyone who would like to help with the scrapbooking please give her a call.

Publicity
- We are honored to welcome Mayor Marsha McClean as our guest and speaker for our November Luncheon.

Vagabonds - Alyce reporting. Those members at the board meeting who attended the last Vagabond outing expressed a very enjoyable experience was had by all. Photos taken are online in the newsletter.  The next trip announced will be February 2, 2012, and is a day of horse racing at Santa Anita. The cost is $69, which includes a tour of the paddock, lunch, clubhouse seating, handicapper talk and fun, and the money should be sent to Gia asap to assure a seat on the bus.

Sunshine - It was reported Shirley Lamoreaux had a fall in her home and is slowly recovering. Also Pat Passalaqua has been ill.

Parliamentarian - Millie spoke of past experiences with male guests who wished to join. This prompted the by-laws addressing this and that this is a Women's Club.

New Business - The December Christmas Board meeting will be a Pot Luck and it is tentatively scheduled to be held at the home of Jody Baker. The January meeting will be at the home of Irene Jansen.
