Explorer’s chairpersons plan day and overnight trips for the club. Trips are reserved for club members first, then, if space is available, to spouses/friends/family. Be aware, we are volunteers, not professional travel planners!

2018 – 2019 TRIPS

September 7, 2018 (Friday) ~ The Huntington Library

Location ~ 1151 Oxford Rd, San Marino, CA 91108 San Marino, CA

Transportation will be carpooling. Drivers needed.

Admission: $21.00. This amount MUST be paid in advance ~ no later than Friday, August 24, 2018. Please make your check out to NEWCOMERS with a notation of Huntington in the memo line. Please give or mail your check to Kathi Giddens, 20047 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall, CA 91321.

1) Rose Garden Tea Room

2) The 1919 Café

3) Red Car (coffee shop)

4) Freshwater Dumpling and Noodle House

If you are planning to have the tea for lunch,

  • you MUST make reservations ahead of time.
  • You might want to get together with friends and have one person make the reservation for the whole group ~ would help insure you are all sitting together

Rose Garden Tea Room

Reservations recommended. Admission to The Huntington is a separate and required cost for all Tea Room guests.  Open 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday – Friday

Set within the historic Huntington Rose Garden, the Tea Room offers an elegant and memorable experience inspired by the tradition of English tea service with a distinctive California twist. Nibble on scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and seasonal desserts, accompanied by a selection of herbal and Fair Trade teas or sparkling wine.

October 14, 2018 (Sunday) ~ The Gibbon Conservation Center

Location ~ 19100 Esguerra Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91390, (Near Lombardi Ranch in Saugus)

Transportation will be carpooling. Drivers needed.

Admission: $15 Adults, $10 Seniors, $12 Teens & Students, $5 Children 6-12, $0 Children under 5.

This amount MUST be paid in advance ~ no later than Friday, September 21, 2018.  Please make your check out to The Gibbon Conservation Center. If you cancel, your money will NOT be refunded. You will receive a note acknowledging your donation. Please give or mail your check to Kathi Giddens, 20047 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall, CA 91321.

The facility will provide a private tour with a minimum of 20 participants.

Location ~ Riverside

Transportation will be metrolink from Santa Clarita to Riverside with train change at Union Station

Cost: Train fair from Santa Clarita to Union Station with transfer to Riverside; hotel and meal costs

March ~ date to be determined ~ possibly tour of Guide Dogs of America facility in Sylmar
