What good shall I do this day?

This announcement is to be sure you know that you must send in your reservations no later than the SUNDAY before any Newcomer and Friends luncheon that you want to attend.

Late reservations can no longer be accepted and the best we can offer you will be a place on a waiting list in the event that someone cancels their reservation. If that doesn't happen, sadly, you will not be able to come to the luncheon!

We had “relaxed” this policy for some of you in the past and had occasionally accepted reservations after the deadline Sunday. That will no longer be possible because our current restaurants will not accept any late reservations.

Social Committee

The social committee has been busy the past two months.  In October, we hosted an enjoyable evening of Ghosts and Goblins at the Halloween party.  About 40 friends gathered to enjoy live music, good food and friendship.  We had a costume contest and some fun games to play.  There were many creative costumes!  Winners were as follows:  Costume contest:  Scariest-Lorrie K., Funniest-Sharon W., Most Creative- Noreen M., and Prettiest-Jodie B.    Games:  Witch Hat Rings – Jude M., Spider’s Bean Bag Toss – Wynn W., Count the Candy – Sharon C.  Thanks to the ladies that helped set up, clean up, be greeters, food organizers and run the games.

In November, we hosted the Tablescapes contest held at the luncheon.  Five teams put together amazing and varied centerpieces, favors, chair decorations, costumes, menus and favors.  The tables were:  Mad Hatter Tea Party, Fairy Garden Wonderland, Fall Festivals Around the World, Namaste:  Welcome to India, and OO La La.  Five independent judges graded them based on creativeness, uniqueness, menu, theme representation and eye appeal.  In our eyes, they were all winners, but Mad Hatter Tea Party swept the votes in all categories.  A huge thank you to all the teams that worked hard and put in a lot of creative effort for us all to enjoy that day.

Details about the cookie exchange on Dec. 9 are elsewhere in the newsletter.  Sign up to attend with Janice W. and come kick off the holidays in a fun and festive way.
