Everyone went home with a sheet of instructions to keep and review. Watch for announcements about Future Game Days. Maybe we’ll see you at the next one!

He can be reached at or 714-546-6923. Make your reservation with him and mention that you will be part of the Newcomers group. The cost is $189 and includes a buffet breakfast and evening meal. Also, let me know if you sign up ~

About a week before the trip, an email will be sent with information about meeting times and carpooling to Van Nuys train station.

You will ride the rails in style aboard a vintage railway car for a one day trip to Santa Barbara. Breakfast buffet, beverages and dinner (included) will be served on this luxurious lounge car. Lunch and wine tasting on our own. Cost is $189.00 per person. More train info at LA Rail Vintage Rail Cars for Charter.

We board at 8:12 AM at the Van Nuys Amtrak station (7724 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys, CA) & return at 6:45 PM

Fares include first class train service by vintage private railway car from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara and return, breakfast buffet aboard northbound train, and an evening meal on the southbound train.

The Vino Train theme includes a walking tour of the “Urban Wine Trail” which is free to participate in, but the wine tasting fees are not included and are settled on an individual basis.  Not included but encouraged:  Wine purchases!

Upon arrival in Santa Barbara at 10:19, our volunteer wine guide will lead you on a walking tour to several tasting rooms. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers. You are, of course, free to join or decline the tour, or leave the tour at any time. If you want to explore Santa Barbara completely on your own, you have approximately 6 hours to do so! After your visit, please return to the Santa Barbara train station and await our special carriage, which departs at 4:35 pm.

At 4:35 pm, we depart Santa Barbara for our evening run back to LA. We'll enjoy the sunset, dinner and dessert in our "exclusive club on rails" as we make our way back home.

Cancellation Policy- You may cancel and receive a refund if you find a replacement for your seat. Otherwise, no cancellations.

-You must be able to navigate the steps up the railway car as there is no ramp for this car. The walking is mostly level streets, and many Winery's are within three blocks of the train station. If you want to venture further you may ride the Downtown or Waterfront Electric Shuttle at .50 per ride. (Get one free transfer upon boarding)

Explorers Kathi G and Geri B.

We enjoyed a wonderful June Tea at the home of Geri Benne. Her tables were beautiful, featuring pink and white. Lucky recipients were each able to take home one of the bouquets of white and pink roses that served as center pieces on every table. The food was excellent, as usual, and the conversation ranged from serious to funny, and everything in between.

Please contact me if you are interested in being put on the waiting list for any of the upcoming Teas. I will be sending out an email in the next 6-8 weeks asking for hostesses for 2018. Yes, it is time to start planning. If you are interested, please let me know. I have already heard from a couple of ladies who would like to hostess. You can borrow anything you need! 661-255-1619,

Mexican Train Dominoes

You are invited to join us for a fun, social game of 'Mexican Train Dominoes'. Open to all members! We play the second Friday every month!

This is the only game currently available to "Newcomers & Friends" that does not require a monthly commitment or RSVP and is open to all members. Come whenever you’re available. Dominoes is a fun, but simple game that you can learn in a few minutes and play right away.

This game is held at the IHOP restaurant which is located on Lyons, near the I-5 freeway. We start playing at 10:30 am and take a break around noon to order lunch and eat together.

We play till about 2 pm. If you are a new member, this is a great way to start getting involved with your Club and to meet new friends. If you are a long time member, come have fun with old and new friends. We would love to have you.

Please contact me at 661-670-0395 with any questions.
