Thank You Maggie and Tom B for the demonstration of Martial Arts.   Everyone was entranced by the quiet strength of movement and when it became quicker and even more powerful we were amazed by the power and clear message of the art. Thanks for the tip that the Senior Center gives classes for different levels. I must say that the quiet in the audience as they watched said a lot! Again, thank you.

I am excited for the April luncheon. Our speaker is an actor who has performed in many roles and will be sharing stories and information about his success as an actor.  Also the Friendship Tapestry will be there so that we can finish this piece of art that will be on display at the May luncheon. Thanks to all who added their artistic touch; and to those of you who want to add your personal flair, please do so at the April luncheon. Embellishments will be available for you to choose from. It is not hard or time consuming and you will be able to add your idea easily. I look forward to helping you choose your addition to this masterpiece

The votes are in, the voting was unanimous and we now begin the planning for installation in May. The committee has had their first meeting and it looks like the installation will be a colorful surprise! Plan now to celebrate the outgoing and incoming board members and yourselves as members of Newcomers and Friends. It will be held at Robinson’s Ranch where we will have room for all. Mark your calendar for May 12th at noon. This will be the final “party” for the 2015-2016 club year and the first one for 2016-2017.  Let’s celebrate Friendship together.

About Our Website!

Newcomers and Friends has its own website on the internet.
You can go to the website,, at any time and read the latest news.  We update the website every month with new information including Luncheon info, the President’s message and all of the ongoing activities. Then we tell Shirley Birnholz who sends everyone a "reminder" email letting you know that we have updated the information on the site.  If you do not receive these emails, or your email address changes contact Shirley. Like magazines, we update the webpage towards the end of the current month, for the next month. The exact day varies due to the many people involved and Godaddy our website manager/provider. If you have any questions or comments please contact your webmistresses/editors/writers Barri Boren and Sandy Enerle.

                                                  AHOY FRIENDS!

We are sailing away on the first ever ’Friends a Cruising’ cruise! Just picture us relaxing on the beautiful Pacific Ocean with our friends and family! We’re sure to have lots of fun stories to tell you in next month’s update!

Hold hands firmly, hearts gently

Marie Calendar’s hosted our March Luncheon and General Meeting. First we were enlightened with a Martial Arts and Tai Chi demonstration by our very own member Maggie Blanchard and her husband Tom. They use these arts as exercise but showed how the can also used for self-defense. Maggie demonstrated how to use a cane to defend yourself.  Then the important election of the proposed slate of officers for our 2016-2017 Board was conducted and unanimously elected! Congratulations and thank you to our next President, Diane Millikin, and her Board volunteers! The Club would not continue to grow and thrive without your dedicated help!

Our own website editor, Sandy Enerle, welcomed a beautiful grand-baby, Fabiana on March 3! She surprised everyone, including
the doctor's at 10 lbs, not the expected 6.5! Sandy says the proud mother and daughter are doing great.

Donna Cerna welcomed a healthy new grand-nephew and Milly Ginsburgh has her first boy among her grand-kids and he's
a great-grandson both on March 15th! What wonderful blessings!

Please feel free to call me, Kitty Zimmerman, if you hear of any member who is celebrating or having a lengthy recovery. It's always nice to know our fellow sisters care.

Mexican Train Dominoes

You are invited to join us for a fun, social game of 'Mexican Train Dominoes'. Open to all members! We play the second Friday every month!

This is the only game currently available to "Newcomers & Friends" that does not require a monthly commitment or RSVP and is open to all members. Come whenever you’re available. Dominoes is a fun, but simple game that you can learn in a few minutes and play right away.

This game is held at the IHOP restaurant which is located on Lyons, near the I-5 freeway. We start playing at 10:30 am and take a break around noon to order lunch and eat together.

We play till about 2 pm. If you are a new member, this is a great way to start getting involved with your Club and to meet new friends. If you are a long time member, come have fun with old and new friends. We would love to have you.

Please contact me at 661-670-0395 with any questions.

Tea Ladies

There was a small gathering for the March Tea at the home of Christina Spears. Her guests were asked to wear their favorite Summer Hats, and, of course, a contest was held. They also enjoyed learning something new courtesy of a short quiz about St. Patrick's Day.

We still have a couple of openings for the April Tea, at which there will be a special presentation.

Please contact me if you are interested in attending any of the Teas through the end of the year.

Email is best.

Hope to see you at one of the Teas.
